“ There's a special establishment where it always feels like summer even when there's a forecast of the returned polar vortex winds. Located on Van Houten in Clifton, we were greeted upon entering the Love of Grub by the staff at this bright and colorful Key West-esque vibe, very relaxed and laid back as first-timers. With the music of Bertie Higgins "Key Largo" playing in the background, my partner and I got a table immediately. The interior featured a cozy, vintage charm with its rustic wooden furniture and an abundance of natural light streaming through the large front windows. Their menu serves breakfast, brunch, and lunch with vegetarian, keto-friendly, and gluten-free choices available upon request. We decided on the cheesesteak with a side of sweet potato fries and the chicken pesto wrap with a small garden salad. After trying multiple cheesesteaks in Jersey and NYC, this restaurant came out a winner with the right balance of mushrooms, onions, and peppers with real American cheese, not from out of a can. The chicken pesto wrap was equally delicious with the fresh homemade pesto grown from the owner's garden. The food was exceptional; one could tell everything was made from scratch, like you were in your family's kitchen getting food made with love. We were able to exchange words with the owner/chef, Tracey. She definitely puts her heart and soul into every aspect of her business and is dedicated to providing customers with the tastiest, freshest food possible. She's a remarkable woman who gives back to the community by cooking for Clifton's warming center for people experiencing homelessness. From the moment we walked through the door, the staff's friendliness and welcoming smiles set the tone for a memorable meal. They were attentive and knowledgeable and made us feel right at home, especially our server, Galvan. The price was comparable to the area. This is one of those places where, if one were to ask the locals where they recommend eating, this would be on their list, which we can recommend. ”

“ I always give a place 3 tries if I like the food. This particular breakfast is pretty pretty good on so many ways. Grits.. good no queso even better Tracey (owner) allowed me to try the gravy for the shrimp and grits and it was amazing. Next, I ordered the burger while scouting in the area really good. Only tip would be toast the bread a bit on the grill but taste homemade with the pink sauce. During my first time there I learned that they give to the needy and take care of the elders which mad eme feel like coming back because they really have the finger on the pulse of humanity. From feeding to really feeding - can't help but spend money at place that is warm and the owner is just as warm and nice. Keep up the good work. Lastly, 3.50 for a of cup 8 Oz lemonade is a bit over the normal at least go 12 oz.. I will definitely recommend because this jewel of a place to eat you won't be disappointed. ”

“ Look EVERYTHING about this place! They are dog friendly with outside seating... and always bring our dog water and bacon :) My husband prays that they haven't run out of biscuits and gravy every time we go. No one in our area serves that on their menu so it's a go to! My son loves their chicken wrap and their eggs and avocado toast is my fav. Service is always friendly and the owner usually stops by your table to see how things went... and probably cooked your food. She's awesome! The decor is a super fun, beachy vibe which you don't necessary expect in Clifton. You'll want to make this your breakfast or lunch spot! ”

“ Great breakfast and lunch place in Clifton. Whimsical, with pirate themed touches all over, including the life size pirate standing outside place. Good food, we loved the avocado breakfast plate, waffles were good and coffee decent. Owner had 80's rock music playing. Totally my type of place. ”

“ Quirky, local Jersey items like Boylan sodas, and real Taylor Ham. Open kitchen, outdoor seating. If they had EV charging I would use it with my Ford C-Max Energi, it charges in 2 hours. (20 mile range PHEV). I had the Cuban Benny. No faults. ”

“ My sister and I ordered delivery. Turkey Club wrap on rye was delicious. Generous portion of tender turkey and bacon. My sister had the cheesesteak and loved it. The roll was nice and chewy. The menu specifically says "hand cut" sweet potato fries. They arrived soggy. The owner explained that keeping fries crisp during the delivery process is impossible and I do agree. However, he told me the fries are NOT hand cut. Then why does it say "hand cut" on the menu? I tried to crisp up the fries in the air fryer but it didn't help. Next time we'll eat in or skip the fries if we're ordering delivery. ”

“ Delicious funky little place! The food was definitely homemade with love! Owner was super sweet and gave out apple fritter samples to the whole restaurant while we were there. Loved the decor as well! Highly recommend it! ”

“ Here's an update one year later... I had such trouble deciding on what I wanted. Either the corned beef hash, the cuban sammich, or the cheesesteak sammich. I ended up getting the cheesesteak with fries because of how delicious it was the last time I was there. The place was pretty empty for a Sunday. Our waitress was friendly and patient. You know when you have a taste for something, but don't get what you expected? Well, that's what happened today. I'm not sure if it was a new chef, but the cheesesteak was not that great. Everything was mushy. The steak, peppers, and mushrooms were mushed into the melted cheese. As you can see in my attached photos, there's a big difference from the first time to now. I would come back, but not for the cheesesteak. ”
